New World Symphony

The 2009 marching show was Symphony #9 in E minor "From the New World" (op. 95). It was composed by Antonin Dvorak and commissioned by the New York Philharmonic. Inspired by his trip to the United States in 1893, Dvorak created folk music by blending Native American music and African American spirituals. The piece consists of 4 movements; Adagio, Largo, Scherzo and Allegro.
